The Nissan Leaf is a battery electric compact hatchback introduced by Nissan in Japan and the United States in 2010, among the first mass market all electric cars sold globally by a major manufacturer rather than as a low volume experiment. It became one of the best selling electric cars of its first decade and helped establish a mainstream market for affordable electric vehicles.
