The Packard Super Eight was the larger of the two eight-cylinder luxury cars built by the Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan, sharing frames and some body types with the top model Twelve. The 1933 to 1936 cars were big classics, and in 1937 it was made smaller and lighter. After the Twelve ended in 1939, a Custom Super Eight One-Eighty became the top range, and from 1940 the Super Eight was the Super Eight One-Sixty, both with a 160 horsepower straight eight. After 1942 Packard concentrated on the new Clipper styling, with Super Clippers until 1947. In 1948 it again became simply the Super Eight, a Deluxe version was added in 1949, and for 1951 it was renamed the 300.
