Nissan Cedric

Automobiles

The Nissan Cedric is a large automobile produced by Nissan from 1960 to 2015, developed to provide upscale transportation and always regarded as the prime competitor of the Toyota Crown. It competed at first with the Prince Skyline and Gloria, which were later merged into the Nissan family, after which the Skyline became a sports sedan and coupe and the Gloria a sporty version of the Cedric with different grille and lights. In Japan the Cedric and Gloria series was affectionately called CedGlo and ended in October 2004, replaced by the Nissan Fuga, although the Cedric name lived on for a Y31 fleet and taxi vehicle that stayed in production. Early cars used G-series four-cylinder engines, a diesel arrived in 1964, and the name came from the hero of the novel Little Lord Fauntleroy.
