Lagonda 3-Litre

Automobiles

The Lagonda 3-Litre was an automobile produced by Aston Martin Lagonda from 1953 until 1958, the second Lagonda model of the David Brown era. It carried a 2.9 litre, 140 bhp version of the twin overhead camshaft Lagonda straight-six engine designed by W. O. Bentley and was offered as a four-seat two-door coupe and a drophead coupe, both built by the Tickford subsidiary, with a four-door saloon added in 1954 and the coupe dropped in 1956. A Mark II in early 1955 brought a floor-mounted gear lever. The chassis was a separate cruciform braced frame with independent suspension all round, coil springs at the front and torsion bars at the rear, servo assisted Lockheed drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, and the interior was fitted with polished walnut and leather. Just 270 were sold across the three body styles, and one was destroyed in a classic banger race in 2014.
