Lagonda 2.6-Litre

Automobiles

The Lagonda 2.6-Litre was a luxury car built in England by Lagonda from 1948 to 1953, the first Lagonda model after David Brown bought the company in 1947 and the car that introduced the new Lagonda straight-six engine designed by W. O. Bentley. It was offered as a four-seat four-door saloon and, from 1949, as a two-door drophead coupe bodied by Tickford, with a Mark II saloon in 1952 whose power rose from 105 to 125 bhp. The body-on-frame car had coil springs at the front and torsion bars at the rear, and at its introduction was believed to be the only all-independently sprung British car, with Lockheed drum brakes and rack and pinion steering. It sold reasonably well despite being expensive and launched so soon after the war, and 510 examples were made when production ended in 1953.
