The Fairlane and its longer LTD sibling were full sized luxury cars made by Ford Australia from 1959 until 2007, with the LTD joining in 1973. From 1959 to 1964 the Fairlane was a locally assembled version of the American Ford Fairlane, a name taken from Henry Ford's estate near Dearborn, Michigan. In 1967 Ford Australia reintroduced it as an Australian developed, long wheelbase luxury version of its mainstream Falcon and Fairmont, placed between the Falcon and the Galaxie. The cars were built at the Broadmeadows plant and at Eagle Farm in Queensland, and they competed with the Holden Brougham, Statesman and Caprice. Their size and length made them a common base for Australian stretch limousines.
