Daimler DK400

Automobiles

The Daimler DK400, originally the Daimler Regina DF400, was a large luxury car made by The Daimler Company Limited between 1954 and 1959, replacing the Straight-Eight cars. It was recognised by its hooded headlights and was Daimler's last car to use its fluid flywheel transmission. The chassis was usually fitted with a steel limousine body by Carbodies with a drop division and three occasional seats, identified as the DK400B, while the owner-driver car was the DK400A; some chassis were bodied as hearses and one as a coupe for Lady Docker. It was shown at Earls Court in October 1954. It was the last of the larger long-stroke straight-six engines Daimler had used since 1910, rated at 127 horsepower at introduction and 167 horsepower from autumn 1955.
