The Chrysler Imperial, introduced in 1926, was Chrysler's top-of-the-line car for much of the company's history. Chrysler positioned it as a prestige model to rival Cadillac, Lincoln, Packard and Duesenberg, and it carried senior executives, officials and celebrities in limousine, town car and convertible form, with custom coachwork from firms such as Derham, Fleetwood and LeBaron. The first car had a 288.6 cubic inch six-cylinder engine. The name was used on Chrysler models until 1954, when Imperial became a separate make, and returned on a Chrysler from 1990 to 1993.
