1981 Land Rover Series

Automobiles

The 1981 Series III had the five-bearing 2.25-litre petrol and diesel engines introduced the year before, and the driveline changes that were meant to cure the notorious rear half-shaft failures. Buyers could also order the Stage 1 V8, and new trim options were available that were designed to make the interior more comfortable for those who wanted them, even though many farmers and commercial users preferred the plain, untrimmed original.
