1983 Land Rover Series

Automobiles

In 1983 the Land Rover range was renewed from the ground up with the introduction of the coil-sprung One Ten, with the Ninety following in 1984; these became the Defender in 1990. The Series III, the leaf-sprung model of the old design, was therefore in its last stage and did not have a long future. In Australia Toyota's Land Cruiser took over as the top-selling four-wheel drive that year, ahead of the Land Rover, which had been losing ground since the mid-1970s.
