1987 Jeep Wrangler

Automobiles

The 1987 Wrangler was unveiled in February 1986 as the first model of the series, entered production in March and went on sale on 13 May 1986, developed under AMC and sold by Chrysler after it bought AMC in 1987. It used a 2.5 liter AMC four cylinder or an optional 4.2 liter six, and the NP207 transfer case was used only in 1987. It was a wider, safer and more comfortable car than the CJ-7 it resembled, with a wider track, slightly less ground clearance, improved handling and additional passenger comfort features.
