In 1998, for the 1999 model year, the fuel tank on the Wrangler became standard at 19 U.S. gallons, a larger capacity than before. The TJ otherwise carried on in the form of the 1997 model with its coil spring suspension. The fuel tank of 19 gallons was larger than before, making the Wrangler more practical for trips, and the Sport and Sahara models came with the 4.0 liter as standard equipment while the SE offered the 2.5 liter four.
