The 2009 model added standard Hill Start Assist to prevent rollback on grades, and for 2009 the right hand drive Wrangler was replaced by the right hand drive Wrangler Unlimited. The Rocky Mountain Edition of the X model, with 32 inch tires and a black tubular side step, was a special edition made for 2009. The Rocky Mountain Edition was also available as a four door model based on the Sport trim, and ULEV II emissions replaced LEV II on manual transmission vehicles.
