The Jeep Patriot and first generation Jeep Compass were phased out during the 2016 model year, replaced by a single redesigned Compass SUV that FCA debuted in late 2016. The second generation Compass debuted on September 27, 2016, in Brazil, and at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2016. The last of the first generation was assembled at Belvidere, Illinois, where the Cherokee production would move.
