In mid-1985 a two wheel drive version of the Cherokee was added to the lineup, and the Laredo trim joined the range that year. The compact XJ Wagoneer, offered in the Wagoneer and Wagoneer Limited trims, was distinguished from the Cherokee for 1983 through 1985 by a slightly different grille and a smaller Jeep emblem. The Laredo trim ran from 1985 to 1992, with chrome accents and plaid cloth upholstery.
