New kei car regulations took effect in March 1990, so the Today's bumpers were enlarged, making the car 3,295 mm long, and the engine grew to 656 cc, with 42 PS for carbureted models and 52 PS for fuel injected models. The new chassis codes were JW3 and JW4 for the commercial 2WD and 4WD and JA2 and JA3 for the passenger versions. Honda added a permanent four wheel drive version in April 1990, with an independent rear axle and struts, and by 1990 the Pochette had become a regular model.
