Honda introduced the second generation Stepwgn in April 2001, mostly based on the first generation, with a design aimed at families with children. Four seating arrangements were possible, play mode, food mode, sleep mode and cargo mode, and a 2.0 liter K20A i-VTEC engine gave 160 PS. The Stepwgn Almas of 2001 included a seat lift option for the front row passenger as well as the second row seat lift, and went on sale on 11 June 2001. The vehicle was unveiled at the 35th Tokyo Motor Show.
