Changes for 2006 included an electronic throttle (drive by wire), stability control, new wheels and one new paint color, Laguna Blue Pearl, plus revised seats and extra stereo speakers built into the headrests. In 2006 the F22C1 engine was also introduced to the Japanese market, with 178 kW (242 PS) and 221 Nm of torque, while the F20C continued in all other markets. The model was the highest ranked Premium Sports Car in the J. D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study for 2006, and NHTSA crash test ratings were published for the 2006 car.
