For the 2002 model year the Honda S2000 had its suspension settings revised and the plastic rear window replaced by a glass unit with an electric defroster. Other updates included slightly revised tail lamps with chrome rings, an upgraded radio with separate tweeters, a leather wrapped gearshift knob, a leatherette console cover and a revised engine control unit, and Suzuka Blue Metallic and Sebring Silver Metallic joined the US colours. From 2002 the United Kingdom offered the car in both roadster and GT trim, the GT adding a removable hard top and an outside temperature gauge, and in 2002 the car received a 4-star Euro NCAP rating.
