A new, larger second generation Honda Odyssey came out in December 1999 in Japan and Australia, with a left hand drive version for China. It was a major upgrade rather than an all new model, so the shape and appearance were similar, though it was 85 mm longer and 10 mm wider. The Japanese market Odyssey continued in S, M and L grade levels with a Prestige model in VG and VZ grades. From 1999 to 2004 Honda also sold the bigger Odyssey of North America in Japan, under the name Honda LaGreat.
