Japanese sales of the fourth generation Odyssey started on 17 October 2008 with M, L, Li and Absolute grades. It was equipped with a 2.4 liter engine and a CVT with a torque converter for front wheel drive, and a 5 speed automatic for 4WD and the high output 206 hp Absolute grade. Among the biggest changes in this generation were electronic stability control and curtain airbags as standard on every grade. In many markets outside Japan, such as Australia and Indonesia, the Odyssey also has a 5 speed automatic transmission.
