Honda introduced the Accord Inspire on October 12, 1989, built on the same platform as the Vigor, a five cylinder luxury sedan derived from the Japanese Accord and sold only at Honda Verno dealerships. The Inspire was introduced during the bubble in Japan. Three trim levels were offered for the CB5 Inspire: the AZ-i, the base one, with a manual transmission, the AG-I with fog lamps, central locking and an optional sunroof, and the top luxury AX-i with leather upholstery.
