The Indonesian Freed was facelifted on 8 May 2012, with a new grille, new taillights and a new interior. Honda Malaysia added a cheaper variant, the Grade S, in July 2012, leaving out items of the Grade E such as remote operated powered sliding rear doors, automatic air conditioning, side mirror indicators or intermittent wipers, a tail spoiler and the Alpine DVD player.
