Production of the Honda Fit Shuttle began in early May 2011. The March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan pushed back the launch of the car from March to June 2011, and power rationing after the quake moved production from Honda's Suzuka plant in Mie Prefecture to its Sayama plant in Saitama Prefecture. Honda put it on sale in Japan on June 16, 2011, and first set a target of 4,000 sales a month.
