The Honda CR-X del Sol was launched in autumn 1992 as a 1993 model year car: in Japan with two trim levels, VXi and SiR, in the USA as the Civic del Sol with S and Si trims, and in Europe with ESi and VTi trims. Trims were limited in the first year in the US to the S and the Si, each powered by a SOHC four cylinder from Honda's D series. The 1993 and 1994 U.S. market del Sol came in five colors: Captiva blue pearl, frost white, Granada black pearl, Milano red and Samba green pearl. It was Honda's first open air car sold in the United States.
