The 2002 model year brought the Civic Si hatchback to North America. Unlike the Si of other generations it was assembled in Swindon, England and shipped to Canada and the United States, where it was the only trim available as a hatchback. Honda Canada marked the one millionth Civic sold in Canada with the limited-edition Civic Coupe Si Veloz. The Civic was recognized in 2002 as one of the top ten greenest vehicles by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy.
