Thailand launched the first generation Brio on 17 March 2011, answering a government backed Eco Car program, at first in an S grade with a manual transmission and a V grade with a manual or CVT, with a 1.2 liter L12B3 engine able to run on E20 fuel. Honda expected to sell 40,000 Brios a year in Thailand when the car launched. The Brio's planned launch in India was delayed in early 2011 due to the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and it was launched there in September 2011.
