The 1989 model year closed out the third-generation Accord, and the SE-i trim came back to the American market as a sedan and a coupe. Standard features included leather trimmed seats, alloy wheels, power assisted four wheel disc brakes, a power moonroof on the sedan and a Bose audio system with steering wheel mounted controls, with two colour combinations offered for each of the sedan and coupe. In 1989 the Accord became the first import-brand vehicle to top United States car sales, and the fourth generation was shown that year as a 1990 model.
