The 2012 model year was the last of the eighth generation Honda Accord, which was discontinued in Japan, as the Inspire, in September 2012. Honda showed the Accord Coupe Concept in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show in January 2012, a preview of the ninth generation, and the 2012 ninth generation sedan, smaller on the outside, was again an EPA mid size car. Honda released the 2013 Accord to follow it on 5 September 2012.
