The Morris Nomad was a hatchback built in Australia by the British Leyland Motor Corporation of Australia from 1969 to 1972, a body variant of the locally made Morris 1500 sedan, itself an Australian version of the BMC ADO16 with a larger 1500 cc engine. It was a small to medium car above the Morris Mini in size and price, and its hatchback styling resembled the Austin Maxi, which was never sold in Australia. It was front-wheel drive with all-independent Hydrolastic suspension, comfortable though prone to droop with a loaded boot. The overhead-camshaft BMC E-Series engine gave better performance and economy than the original Morris 1100, with four- or five-speed manual gearboxes.
