Chrysler CCV

Automobiles

The Chrysler CCV, short for Composite Concept Vehicle, was a concept car designed by Bryan Nesbitt to illustrate new means of construction suitable for developing nations. It was a tall, fairly roomy four-door hatchback of modest size, inspired by a modernized Citroen 2CV, with an injection-molded plastic body, a fabric roof and an air-cooled two-cylinder engine driving the front wheels, designed to be cheap and easy to build with little capital or skilled labor. It was developed in the mid-1990s and earmarked for production, starting with a joint venture in China, but molding problems and Chrysler's 1998 takeover by Daimler-Benz killed the project, and the techniques later made plastic hardtops for the Jeep Wrangler.
