BYD Racco

Automobiles

The BYD Racco is a battery electric kei car made by BYD Auto in 2026 for the Japanese market, and the first dedicated kei car from a non-Japanese brand. The name is Japanese for sea otter. It was revealed at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, has been made in China for export since July 2026, and went on sale in Japan on 28 July 2026. It is a tall-roof kei car with sliding doors in the mould of the Honda N-Box, Daihatsu Tanto and Nissan Roox, and competes with electric kei cars such as the Honda N-One e and Nissan Sakura. A front motor of 47 kilowatts is fed by a 22.4 or 35.84 kilowatt-hour LFP Blade battery, giving WLTP ranges of 210 or 320 kilometres, and it is the first electric kei car with power sliding doors and the first with more than 300 kilometres of range. It reached Sri Lanka in October 2026.
