The E83W went into production in 1938 as a ten hundredweight light commercial van, built by Ford of Britain at the Dagenham assembly plant that was also the home of Fordson tractors. It was sold as a Fordson and was one of the small vans of the late 1930s, with a 1,172 cc engine. The E83W was a half ton light commercial vehicle that Ford of Britain built at Dagenham, with a small side valve engine. It was sold as a Fordson and later as a Thames, and exported widely as Britain sought export sales after the war.
