It was a Volkswagen Santana based family car, with Volkswagen engines of 1.8 and 2.0 litres, built in Brazil. The Versailles was a Ford badged Volkswagen Santana sold in Brazil and Argentina during the Autolatina joint venture. A station wagon version was sold as the Ford Royale, and in Argentina the car was called the Galaxy.
