In 1992 the Versailles differed from the Santana by using the corporate front end of Ford, somewhat squarer taillights and more upright rear pillars. Like the Santana it was a two or four door sedan, and it was also made as a wagon, the Royale, which was at first only a three door car. The Versailles was a Ford badged Volkswagen Santana sold in Brazil and Argentina during the Autolatina joint venture. A station wagon version was sold as the Ford Royale, and in Argentina the car was called the Galaxy.
