Autolatina ceased production of the Verona and the Apollo in 1992, after only three years, though it kept making the third generation Orion a year later with the Verona name. The Verona and Apollo had fallen to ninth and fifteenth place in the Brazilian sales ranking in their last year. The Verona was a small family car that Ford of Brazil built with Volkswagen through their Autolatina joint venture. It was sold alongside the Volkswagen Apollo, a badge engineered twin, and it was based on the European Ford Orion.
