For 1968 Ford redesigned its intermediate Fairlane line and introduced a new premium subseries, the Torino, named after the Italian city of Turin, thought of as the Italian Detroit. Styling was drastically changed, boosting size and weight, and a two door hardtop fastback body called the SportsRoof was added. Ford had fourteen intermediate models for 1968 and sixteen for 1969, adding the Cobra. Its model years run from 1968 to 1969.
