The third generation Taurus, in production from June 1995, gave the car its first complete exterior redesign since 1986. Its controversial oval shape reflected a wish to recreate the class leading impact of the original and to answer the Chrysler LH cars of 1992. It remained the best selling car in the United States for 1996, though only half of the cars sold went to retail customers, with fleets taking the rest. It was built at Atlanta and Chicago. Each model year has its own page.
