The second generation Taurus was an extensive redesign of the first with a longer, heavier and more rounded body, though it used the same DN5 platform and still came with a Mercury Sable twin and an SHO. It brought flexible fuel powertrains, standard dual airbags and a V6 as the standard engine for the first time. After more than 410,000 sales for 1992 it overtook the Honda Accord to become the best selling car in the United States. Each model year has its own page.
