Production of the Taurus station wagon was discontinued on 8 December 2004. In 2004 and 2005, as part of Ford's effort to use more globally sourced platforms, the company introduced the Volvo developed Five Hundred and the Mazda developed Fusion to fill the slot of the Taurus in the Ford line. After that point the Taurus sedan continued without a wagon version, which had been offered since 1986. A five door station wagon had been offered since 1986.
