Sales of the Puma crossover started in Europe in 2019, positioned above the EcoSport and below the Kuga. Ford first announced it at its Go Further event in Amsterdam together with the third generation Kuga. Production started in Craiova, Romania in October 2019, with 1,700 people employed on the project. Euro NCAP tested the Puma in 2019 and rated it at five stars, with adult and child protection rated at 94 and 84 percent.
