For 1982 the Cobra was dropped and the Mustang GT returned after 13 years under the slogan The Boss Is Back. Its high output Windsor 302 made 157 horsepower after changes to valves, a more aggressive cam, a larger two barrel carburetor and better breathing intake and exhaust. The only transmission behind the V8 was the Tremec four speed manual overdrive. The 140 horsepower small block V8 now carried a 5.0 L badge on its fenders, ending the weak V8 years.
