The vehicle debuted at the Auto Shanghai show in China in April 2021 as the Evos, a mid size crossover coupe SUV produced by Ford through the Changan Ford joint venture in China. It was developed largely by a team of Ford in China, with BlueCruise driver assistance. It was not sold in North America despite guesses that it would replace the Fusion and Mondeo. The Mondeo Sport is a low slung crossover coupe that Ford and Changan build in China, first shown as the Evos.
