The LTD Crown Victoria was one generation on the Panther platform, which shed eighteen inches of length and nearly a thousand pounds from the 1970s LTD. It had a double wishbone front and live rear axle, a 4.9 litre V8 as the usual engine, a mid cycle revision in 1988 and a driver airbag from 1990. Its model years run from 1980 to 1991. The LTD Crown Victoria was the full size Ford of the 1980s, built on the rear wheel drive Panther platform.
