For 1990 the dashboard and steering wheel were redesigned for the first time since 1979, to meet passive safety rules, with a driver airbag as standard on all versions and three point belts for the outboard rear seats. A dual exhaust system added ten horsepower as an option. The LTD Crown Victoria was the full size Ford of the 1980s, built on the rear wheel drive Panther platform. It was the Ford counterpart of the Mercury Grand Marquis and shared a body style with it.
