For 1983 Ford revised its full size and mid size ranges, and the LTD Crown Victoria became the only full size Ford sedan while the mid size Granada was renamed LTD. The exterior had a revised grille and new taillamp lenses without the LTD script, and the 4.2 litre V8 was dropped. It was the Ford counterpart of the Mercury Grand Marquis and shared a body style with it. The LTD Crown Victoria was the full size Ford of the 1980s, built on the rear wheel drive Panther platform.
