For 1982 Ford phased out the FORD lettering on the grille and trunklid and brought in the blue oval emblem, offset to the driver's side on the grille. The LTD Crown Victoria was still the top trim of the LTD range that year, and Oakville in Canada was by then the only assembly plant. The LTD Crown Victoria was the full size Ford of the 1980s, built on the rear wheel drive Panther platform. It was the Ford counterpart of the Mercury Grand Marquis and shared a body style with it.
