In 2023 the plug in hybrid Kuga was Europe's best selling plug in hybrid for the third year in a row, while its North American counterpart, the Escape, received a design refresh that the Kuga would follow a year later. The non plug in Kuga continued to rank among the thirty most popular vehicles in Europe, with a conventional hybrid and turbocharged engines on the C2 platform. Ford claimed the new model was up to 90 kilograms lighter than the car it replaced.
