The plug in hybrid Kuga was Europe's best selling plug in hybrid again in 2022, and the non plug in version of the Kuga consistently ranked in the thirty most popular vehicles in Europe. The third generation had been built on the C2 platform and was up to 90 kilograms lighter than its predecessor, with a more generous wheelbase and a wider and longer body than the model it replaced. It was Ford's first SUV to use the C2 platform.
