The 1.6 liter EcoBoost Kugas built between December 2012 and February 2014 later became the subject of a recall in South Africa, where 4,556 such cars were affected. The second generation Kuga was offered in Europe with 1.5 and 1.6 liter EcoBoost petrols and 2.0 liter Duratorq diesels, in front and all wheel drive forms. Ford Europe developed it under the One Ford policy with designers and engineers in Cologne.
